About the role

We have high ambitions here at Surrey County Council – our aim is to be recognised, simply, as outstanding and we are in the midst of organisation wide transformation that will help us get there. The challenge is huge, the opportunities even greater.

We have completely re-designed and re-focused our HR&OD function, with a strong focus on modernising our organisation, culture and workforce – where individuals thrive and are able to perform at their very best. You will be encouraged to think differently, share your experience and create solutions that truly deliver change.

If the idea of being part of a team which is committed to making a real impact to public service, and to the lives of the residents of Surrey, then this opportunity is for you!

As part of our exciting new HR&OD function, you will play a critical role in the development of effective and best fit reward strategies.

Your remit will span pay, reward, recognition and benefit strategies and be focused on combining effective and modern approaches with organisational fit and legal compliance. Being effective in how we evaluate jobs and stay competitive and an employer of choice against other organisations will be an important factor within this role.

With a professional qualification within the field of reward or equivalent experience, you will have knowledge and experience of how to design, implement and manage all aspects of reward.

You naturally build relationships with a genuine desire to 'get under the skin' of the business. With a real knack of supporting trades unions and staff discussions by communicating and reporting in a authoritative, engaging and compelling way - leaving clear messages while having an open and collaborative style.
