A strategic Head of HR to join a global aerospace business, based in Havant.

Your new company

I am pleased to represent a global aerospace, security, defence and advanced technologies company with worldwide interests.

The company employ over 90,000 staff operating in more than 60 countries and hundreds of facilities across the world. The UK business boast 2000 employees (including contractors) across 17 locations (all in Southern England, apart from 1 site), based out of Havant.

The division that this role sits within is a leading provider of systems engineering, software development and complex programme management for global security, cyber, civil and commercial markets.

This is set in a demanding, highly technical environment serving defence, cyber and civil industry customers. Business activities range from long term programmes with complex development and integration activity; long term capability maintenance and operational; data management and global postal programmes; complex fully functional simulated training solutions to inventory maintenance and logistics support.

Your new role

As Head of HR, reporting to the Director of HR VP, you will have 5 x direct reports including 4 x HR Business Partners and 1 x HR Administrator (all based in Havant). You will be responsible for the 17 UK sites, with 40% travel vs 60% office based in Havant. You will also travel to the USA on rare occasions, but no more than a few times a year.

Main purpose of the role:

The Head of HR has overall responsibility for the HR support to the division in the UK and to Line of Business in the UK as a member of the senior management team, providing solutions on all aspects of HR Management as a strategic business partner and operational delivery through a team of HR Business Partners.

Working hours: Monday-Friday, 9/75 - 9 day fortnight (you will work 75 hours over 9 days and have every other Friday off)

What you'll need to succeed

You must be qualified to CIPD Level 7 with experience in a similar industry at a senior level Head of HR / Director role - sectors should include: aviation/aerospace, defence, automotive, marine/shipping, manufacturing or engineering.

The successful candidate must have vast experience of complex HR issues such as tribunals, IR35, ethical matters and employment law (both in the UK and globally).
