As the Leadership Strategy Lead, you’ll make sure our most senior people are equipped to perform at their best and lead the UK’s largest police service – to make London safe for everyone. Shaping the leadership strategy to introduce innovative, global best practice initiatives, you’ll ensure that officers on the frontline have the support to protect and police a unique city.

That’s why we want you to implement our new Centre of Excellence, being responsible for building leadership capability across all levels in the Met. Heading up the Centre of Excellence for Leadership, you’ll help us to become an employer of choice, with leaders who create a diverse environment where people want to work.

Your role will be to shape the leadership strategy, which will inform the Met’s overall approach to leadership capability definition, selection and development. You will engage and influence the Met’s executive team to prioritise and endorse your recommendations on leadership capability building, and you will work alongside your HR colleagues in talent, recruitment and learning and development to transition the strategy into business as usual.

You will lead a team to develop a wide range of leadership offerings, tailored to our different leadership populations and needs. You will work with internal partners to shape the delivery approach, ensuring it aligns with other development initiatives, is engaging, impactful, value for public money and minimises any operational disruption. You will also be accountable for selecting service delivery partners (in-house or out-sourced) to bring in expertise and delivery support, and so you will oversee their performance and impact through a framework of SLAs.  

You’ll combine proven experience of creating leadership strategies with the energy to bring about change. Enthusiastic and creative, you’ll know how to interpret business strategy and introduce leadership initiatives. You will also have a track record of commissioning HR services and applying consultancy techniques. With your strong communication skills, you’ll earn trust and respect at the highest levels. This credibility will help you challenge the status quo with solid support from senior figures. Our appetite for innovation and solutions goes right to the very top.
