Do you want to contribute to making the world a better place with your expertise in Diversity and Inclusion? Open Society’s Global Human Resources Department is seeking a Director of Diversity and Inclusion to lead the implementation and further development of Open Society’s vision for diversity and inclusion, in pursuit of making the organisation a more inclusive and diverse network.

The Open Society Foundations works to build vibrant and inclusive democracies whose governments are accountable and open to the participation of all people. We are active in more than 120 countries, making us the world’s largest private funder of independent groups working for justice, democratic governance, and human rights. The Human Resources (HR) team, comprised of 60+ members, sits in our Berlin, London, New York, and Washington, DC offices and supports OSF staff across the global network of offices and foundations, in over 40 countries.

As Director of Diversity and Inclusion, you will:

  • Develop and implement transformative diversity and inclusion strategies and programs, with a focus on building an inclusive culture and inclusive workplaces at OSF.
  • Serve as thought partner and advisor to programs and departments to support unit-level efforts to develop more inclusive practices and culture.
  • Serve as subject matter expert and advisor to other HR functions, including recruitment, performance management, compensation and benefits and talent development, to embed inclusive practices in HR policies, processes and programs.
  • Develop and maintain a global network of diversity and inclusion external experts who can advise and support internal stakeholders on diversity and inclusion topics and implement specific activities such as training, assessment, and facilitation.
  • Develop and implement the diversity and inclusion communication strategy and plan, and with Internal Communications to regularly communicate internal diversity and inclusion initiatives, events and progress.

What we are looking for:

  • Significant experience in project management, change management, organisational development or related field, including experience designing and leading diversity and inclusion projects and initiatives in a global organisation.
  • A proven record of successfully designing and delivering global, complex, multi-disciplined, inclusive programs.
  • An ability to build strong relationships and to facilitate conversations on challenging and uncomfortable topics at all levels of the organisation, from senior leadership to individual contributors.
  • Cultural sensitivity and ability to advocate appropriately in diverse and international environments.
  • Ability to make decisions in a collegial and highly collaborative environment, bringing to bear a strategic approach, and strong problem-solving skills.
  • The ability to travel internationally approximately 25% of the time.

What we offer:

  • Ample opportunities to learn and grow, from annual professional development allowances to onsite trainings and brown bag lunches with visiting experts.
  • Top-notch benefits and perks designed for your well-being and a healthy work-life balance. With some variability according to location, this includes generous time off, flexible work arrangements, employer-paid health insurance, generous retirement savings plan, progressive paid parental leave, reproductive and family planning support, sabbatical opportunities, and much more.
  • A commitment to creating a diverse and inclusive workplace that enables everyone to bring their full self to work and make a positive impact on the world.
  • We feel our salaries are competitive for our sector. The salary for this position starts at 80,000 GBP per annum. Your offer will be based on your level of experience and internal equity.

If this sounds like the position you have been looking for, please submit your cover letter and CV; we look forward to learning more about you.

Closing date: 16 October 2019.

We aim to build an inclusive workforce that is reflective of the populations we support, and actively seek applications from those who are marginalized and underrepresented. We are committed to providing reasonable accommodations to applicants and colleagues with disabilities.
