Key Accountability

  1. To support the development and maintenance of HR policies and procedures and provide advice and assistance in support of such policies and procedures.
  2. To advise, support and guide managers in dealing with employee relations issues, including grievances and disciplinary investigations and follow-up action, as required
  3. To be responsible for the effective, accurate and timely preparation and monitoring of all data e.g. payrolls, contracts, management information, ensuring that all targets and deadlines are met in accordance with agreed quality standards and maximum efficiency
  4. To support the processes regarding the running of the College Joint Consultative Committee
  5. Ensure that effective HR/Payroll processes are in place, and maintained, ensuring the provision of quality management information e.g. sickness absence, turnover, monitoring etc.
  6. To support the operations of the college’s payroll and pensions services provision
  7. To co-ordinate the management of occupational health services, and related staff welfare schemes, including sickness monitoring and ill-health issues.
  8. To implement and support the development  of the Colleges recruitment and selection processes
  9. To provide regular progress reports on recruitment activity, practices and progress against action plans
  10. To manage the College’s staff grading and job evaluation systems.
  11. To support the development and implementation of performance management frameworks.
  12. To actively promote the Colleges equal opportunities policy, encouraging staff awareness  and participation in all areas
  13. To support the policies for management of change, including TUPE issues, and work with line managers to achieve organisational objectives
  14. To work towards continuous improvement through the Colleges CPD process and to participate in training and development activities designed to assist development in the role
  15. To positively represent the People Services Division, and deputise for the Executive Director as required
  16. Undertake specific projects, as directed by the Executive Director and carry out other duties commensurate with the nature and grade of the post.
  1. Leadership and Management
  1. Lead and build a team of staff, running regular team meetings to ensure good communications are in place across the team
  2. Provide encouragement, support and guidance to teaching staff in order to continue to raise the quality of teaching in the area
  3. Ensure supportive staff induction, coaching and target-setting for teaching improvements and strong mentoring and staff development for individuals
  4. Work cooperatively with other Divisional managers to ensure an effective and integrated Management Team
  5. Organise the area to achieve high standards of quality and performance

  1. Ensure that management and administration functions are performed effectively
  2. Plan for the effective utilisation of physical and staff resources, implementing college procedures
  3. Respond to requirements for accurate timely information
  4. To undertake any other duties at appropriate levels of skill and responsibility
  1. Performance Management
  1. Prepare estimates to meet planned activity
  2. Keep accurate financial records as required
  3. Keep an inventory of resources and manage purchasing procedures
  4. Monitor the use of resources
  5. Ensure that health and safety requirements are fully complied with and risk assessments are conducted and recorded accurately

  7. The Assistant Director – People Services will be subject to an appraisal in accordance with the College’s PPR Scheme.
