The Avalon Group is an award winning social care charity celebrating their 25th anniversary in 2019.

With a turnover of over £11m and 350 staff, we are one of the largest providers of community support and shared lives services in Yorkshire and the Humber, supporting around 600 people with a disability through person-centred support. 

Avalon has excellent links with the communities we operate in and are recognised by CQC as providing good services in all 9 locations registered. This is an exciting period for the organisation as it progresses modernisation plans identified in our Strategic Plan 2019-2021.

To complement the current Board of Trustees, we are looking to appoint new Trustees to help drive the charity forward and continue to build on our strong reputation with regulators and commissioners.

What we are looking for...

While the new Trustees do not necessarily need previous non-executive experience, they will be able to demonstrate a strong track record in senior leadership positions and be willing and able to contribute to the full agenda at Avalon. To provide expertise, guidance and governance to a team that will deliver our vision for a world where disabled people are seen for who they are, having equality, choice and independence.

In addition, we are looking for Trustees with experience at a strategic level in one or more of the following areas:

· Social Housing

· HR

· Law

· Well-being and Diversity

· Digital Technologies

Trustees will be able to demonstrate a clear empathy with the aims of the charity and the sector, live or have close links with one of the areas we cover and need to be available a minimum of two days per month.

The positions are voluntary therefore unpaid but any travel expenses incurred will be paid. Appointment will be subject to an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Certificate.
