A HR Advisor is required on a contract basis for 6 months £30/35K

Your new company

HR Advisor - This is a stand-alone position, providing a full range of comprehensive and generalist professional HR services to all staff. Achieving excellent standards of service quality to all stakeholders.

Your new role


* Take ownership of the entire recruitment cycle, including all associated administration, for all Security Officers and staff required by the business, including; creating adverts, managing applications, selection and interviewing. Ensuring an excellent candidate experience at all points throughout the process.
* Managing new starter and leaver processes, including all relevant administration; including inductions and exit interviews, in conjunction with the Operations Team.
* Proficient in the effective management of the entire TUPE process for incoming staff, and handle requests for TUPE for outgoing staff. This will include conducting consultation meetings etc.
* Managing probationary period reviews in conjunction with Operational Security Managers. Including putting in place required PIP, managing those that do not pass probation out of the business.
* Be accountable for Vetting of all staff to BS7858 standard (industry standard practice) Effectively respond to HR queries from staff and managers, applying HR best practice and acting as a trusted HR advisor to management.
* Responsible for managing employee relations issues (disciplinaries, grievances, capability, absence), including involvement in investigations, hearings and the associated administration.
* Conduct return to work interviews with office-based staff.
* Manage the performance appraisal process.
* Updating workforce management system with staff information as required.
* Handle staff references requests on an ad-hoc basis.
* Ability to understand HR issues arising from operational management issues, and advise managers appropriately, including application of employment law and policies.
* Responsible for maintaining attendance, absence and training records.
* Organise and maintain electronic and paper files.
* Liaise with the company employment law consultancy firm as required.
* Co-ordinate any potential employment tribunals (in conjunction with legal consultancy firm).
* Maintain data protection at all times.
* Ability to build positive relationships with managers and colleagues.
* Driving to sites to carry out HR function with staff, travel to sites in London and Southeast when required.

What you'll need to succeed

You will be a motivated individual and an effective team player, who is confident to take the lead on HR issues. Working collaboratively with the Operations team to ensure the smooth running of the HR function within the business. Areas of responsibility include; Employee relations, recruitment, induction, performance management, reward & recognition.


* CIPD qualified, or working towards (or equivalent).
* Extensive HR generalist experience.
* Experience in effectively managing ER cases (disciplinaries, grievances, capability management, absence).
* Excellent working knowledge of current employment legislation.
* Experience of guiding managers and providing HR advice and counsel.
* Strong IT skills, with good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Excel and Word, and experience of using HR systems.
* Ability to build positive relationships with managers and staff all levels.
* Excellent customer service skills, with written and spoken communication.
* Ability to work quickly, accurately and to deadlines.
* Flexibility to travel to other sites as and when required (Valid UK Driving Licence required).
* Excellent team player, who is adaptable to change, open to new ideas and ways of working.
* Experience of handing TUPE is essential.
