Do you have a HR qualification (CIPD) or equivalent experience, a good working knowledge of employment law and a track record gained managing Employee Relations Cases? Then join Shelter as an Employee Relations Case Manager and you could soon be the go-to person for all things ER within our People Directorate.

A home is a fundamental human need, as essential as education or healthcare. Yet millions of people across Britain struggle on a daily basis with homelessness, bad housing conditions, soaring rents, discrimination and the threat of eviction. So, we are striving for change — with individuals, in communities, across society – and leading the way to a safe home. We need ambitious, best-in-class individuals who are passionate about our cause to join us at this exciting time. This is your chance to play a part in the fundamental change we are striving to achieve.

About the role
Our People Directorate provides the strategic lead on people management and organisational development and aims to enable the organisation to have the right culture, capacity and capability to achieve its purpose. This particular role sits within the HR Business Partnering team that’s responsible for partnering with the organisation and leadership teams to identify business goals and priorities and translate these into clear people plans. Your challenge, as a dedicated senior ER specialist, will be to support the business by providing expert advice and guidance and empowering managers during difficult employee experiences. We’ll also rely on you to drive and deliver consistent and effective processes and employee experiences and identify where there ‘s a need to focus on and improve our managers’ knowledge and experience.

About you
As well as proven experience of managing, coaching and developing a team, you’ll need the ability to research and consult with a diverse range of stakeholders and develop new policies that meet our operational needs. Accordingly, excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential, as is a flair for building good relationships and developing a thorough understanding of both Shelter and the wider sector. Proactive, customer-focused and commercially aware, you’re not afraid to apply creative and lateral thinking, challenge the status quo and introduce new ideas. What’s more, you’re adept at positively influencing others and, where necessary, persuading them to change their views, intentions or actions.

We offer a wide range of benefits, including 30 days of annual leave, enhanced family friendly policies, pension and interest free travel loans. Our employees also have access to a tenancy deposit loan, cycle to work scheme and an employee assistance programme.

Shelter helps millions of people every year struggling with bad housing or homelessness through our advice, support and legal services. And we campaign to make sure that, one day, no one will have to turn to us for help. We’re here so no one has to fight bad housing or homelessness on their own.
