Description
The HR Adviser acts as an Employee Champion providing an effective and proactive HR advisory service to both individuals and teams that is flexible enough to reflect commercial realities but is within a clear framework underpinned by firm culture, practices, policies and ultimately by relevant law.
They will manage the day to day operational and administration tasks including:
Employee relations
Deal with all employee relations issues (disciplinaries, grievance, redundancy, capability)
Ensure all contractual/legal documents and templates are kept up to date and are in line with firmwide policy and current legislation
Implement guidelines on ER issues ensuring new information and updates are provided to staff and managers
Keep accurate and appropriate records of ER related events
Liaise with the relevant Intelligent Office BSM to discuss any performance or welfare concerns relating to IO employees
Provide accurate and timely information and support to colleagues who are managing conflict situations
Advise managers and individuals on performance management policy (e.g. appraisals, performance improvement plans, probationary periods)
Regularly meet with Team Partners, and where appropriate other partners, to discuss team and individual performance and use insights, both in terms of knowledge and metrics, to offer HR solutions and make recommendations for change
Take a proactive approach to assisting Partners, Directors and Managers with performance management of team members
Manage the appraisal process to ensure that annual appraisals are completed for all staff
Deal with all absence management issues liaising with both the individual and the manager
Reward and benefits
Support the Rewards and Benefits Manager in the delivery of the reward and benefits processes providing relevant and timely information and efficient administrative support
Assist the Reward and Benefits Manager with any benefits related queries from staff
Learning and Development
Support the Learning and Development Manager by encouraging individuals to attend training sessions and complete online compulsory training modules
Support employees in assessing their strengths and development needs
Alert the Learning and Development Manager to any identified individual or team training needs
Resourcing and talent planning
Explain resourcing and talent processes clearly to applicants and employees
Alert the Resourcing Manager to any recruitment needs
Assist the Trainee Recruitment Manager with first stage Trainee interviews
Support the Trainee Recruitment Manager with offer letters, induction and joiner processes, newly qualified promotions, and trainee leavers
Issue offer letters and provide advice and support to the Resourcing Manager on salary, benefit and start date negotiations
Complete a thorough on boarding process from acceptance of offer to the end of the probationary period (e.g. announcements, induction packs, firmwide and local inductions, office tours, follow-up checks, training etc).
Service delivery and information
First point of contact for all internal and external HR enquiries.
Support firmwide change initiatives to help maximise employee engagement.
Provide timely communications to the office and where appropriate firmwide (e.g.joiners, leavers, absence, travel issues, office closures etc)
Provide the firm with meaningful analytics to enable business improvement (e.g. exit interview summaries, absence data, headcount reports, start and leaver reports)
Assist the HR Operational Manager with the creation of monthly management board reports
Update and maintain the HR system and data ensuring a consistence approach across the team
Assist with pro-actively identifying, developing and implementing improvements to systems and procedures to enhance efficiency
Produce the monthly payroll report for finance ensuring that it is both timely and accurate
Provide absence cover for other HR Advisors
Contribute to the development of the overall HR service by undertaking project work
Profile
Essential and desirable criteria
As a minimum CIPD part qualified.
Experience of working at HR Advisor/Officer level, preferably in a professional services environment
Excellent organisation skills and a high level of attention to detail and accuracy at all time
Ability to prioritise and perform under pressure and have a flexible approach
Experience of communicating effectively at all levels
Professional approach and appearance
Good knowledge and understanding of employment law and best practice
Strong IT skills with experience of HR databases and Excel
Complete confidentiality at all times.
Job Offer
£45,000 - 50,000 plus package.
