The Company:

Our client is the world’s largest independent oil refiner and through its subsidiaries is an international manufacturer and marketer of transportation fuels and other petrochemical products. Opened in 1964, the Pembroke refinery is one of the largest, most complex refineries in Western Europe. It manufactures a range of products including gasoline, diesel fuel, kerosene, liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) and petrochemical feedstocks.

The Role:

The role of the Learning and Development Manager is vital to develop and assure functional competence and to support the creation of a strategic learning organisation and aid organisational growth through the development of people. 

You will work in partnership with a line management team to analyse and address key business issues through training and development. We’re looking for a wide range of skill sets and experience particularly in implementing competence assurance, training and development initiatives to meet business and individual needs and the ability to design and deliver a wide range of solutions in operational, maintenance, technical/engineering and health and safety training.

The Candidate:

This is a hands-on role that demands excellent communication and interpersonal skills together with sound business acumen. Proactive in influencing change, you will have the proven ability to meet deadlines and have the flexibility to cope with changing priorities together with strong planning and analytical skills.

The successful candidate will be of graduate calibre with a Training or teaching qualification preferably CIPD or equivalent and will need to demonstrate the confidence of least five years’ experience in the design and delivery of training initiatives together with the evaluation and validation of training solutions.  Ideally we are looking for candidates with previous experience of working in an operational, production, manufacturing or educational environment.
