Background
The House of Lords Administration employs around 650 staff, providing the administrative and logistical support for the House of Lords to work as an effective second chamber of Parliament. The range of staff employed is very wide, including a large in-house catering service and facilities team as well as posts which support directly the work of the chamber and committees. The Human Resources Office (currently 20 staff) provides a full HR service for all the Administration’s staff.
The Role
The main objective of the role is to deliver an effective strategic HR Business Partner approach across the Administration and to proactively support line managers at all levels in the effective management of their staff. The post holder will also be providing excellent HR services to the staff of the Administration, including casework management, workforce planning and resourcing strategies.
The Person
The successful candidate will have the following skills/experience:
- Relevant HR Experience - Extensive generalist HR experience including experience of advising successfully on complex case management issues and employee relations issues
- Influencing and Negotiation - Strong challenging and influencing skills including negotiation skills with the ability to effectively challenge senior staff and Heads of Office
- Delivering Customer Service - Proactive, customer and business focused skills including the ability to advise on the HR content of a business case and job evaluations
- Communication Skills - Clear and accurate oral, written, and online communications skills, including consistent record keeping and reporting
