It's with a commercially sound and established business who design and manufacture some pretty specialist kit that's used in over 100 countries. They have evolved significantly over the years, both organisationally and culturally, generating healthy profits.

They're good. But they want to be great.

As Divisional HR Director, you'll partner the MD - someone who is completely behind the HR agenda. He knows what a substantial difference great HR can make, and he wants the HRD to sit at the top table with him. You'll have a big voice here, and you'll be expected to use it.

It's a company of just over 300 who are scattered across a few different worldwide locations so you'll get to travel - probably around 20% in your first year so you can build some robust relationships and learn about the whole set up.

The job itself is end to end - as well as formulating the HR strategy, you'll be executing it. It is generalist in its fullest sense - recruitment, talent management, business partnering, leadership development, org design, performance management. You'll manage a team of 3, but there won't be anything you're not prepared to do. There's no room for ego or hierarchy here, just commerciality, curiosity, credibility, energy, pragmatism, and a drive for continuous improvement.

You're likely to have a background in smaller organisations, where if something doesn't exist, you create it. There aren't any CoE's to rely on here - it's up to you to make things happen.
