With over 2,400 staff and a student community of 23,300, Liverpool John Moores University (LJMU) is a thriving and vibrant organisation based in the heart of the city.  We are passionate about the success of Liverpool, not just because large numbers of our students and staff are local people, but because we care deeply about our communities and our proud to be the civic university of the city.

We are now seeking to appoint an executive level Director of Human Resources to lead the development and delivery of the University’s people and culture strategies.

Reporting directly to the Vice-Chancellor (who is also the University’s CEO) and as a member of the University’s Executive Leadership Team, the Director of Human Resources will provide strategic leadership for all people management matters across the University, ensuring that LJMU’s values are embedded not just in policy and processes but in practice, and therefore in the experienced reality of our staff.

We are looking for an exceptional individual to lead our people management at a time of great change and uncertainty in our sector and more widely in society. Candidates will bring wide-ranging HR leadership experience, able to shape and lead our people and culture strategies aligned to the achievement of our institutional ambitions. With experience of operating at board level and leading high performing HR teams, the Director of Human Resources will be a significant contributor to the future success of the University. Our successful candidate will also be committed to the success of the individuals and communities we serve and will demonstrate this commitment by engaging with staff, students and the wider community as a senior leader of the University.

We welcome applications from experienced HR leaders from all sectors and industries.
