Natural resources in Wales are fantastic - rugged mountains and woodlands, beautiful landscapes and coastlines, and amazing wildlife.

They are vital for our survival and provide us with the basic things we need to live: clean air, clean water, and food. They create jobs for thousands of people like farmers, foresters, and tourist operators, creating wealth and prosperity.

They give us all a better quality of life and opportunities to enjoy the outdoors against a backdrop of Wales’ natural beauty and heritage. People come from far and wide to experience them. They are intrinsically linked with Welsh culture and language.

It’s our job in Natural Resources Wales (NRW) to look after these natural resources and what they provide for us: to help reduce the risk to people and properties of flooding and pollution; to look after special places for well-being, wildlife and timber; and to work with others to help us all to manage them sustainably. The people who work here in NRW have the knowledge, expertise, and passion to help make the sustainable management of natural resources a reality.

We want everyone to come to NRW to do work they love, with people they respect, to make the best contribution they are able to, to feel supported and valued and to have satisfying and stretching careers, working effectively with other organisations. We want our customers and stakeholders to affirm that NRW is recognised, externally and internally, as making a difference in Wales.

As an OD Specialist, this is a really exciting opportunity for you to support the growth and development of our people, by evolving products and services to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of our organisation, through the delivery of a comprehensive Organisational Development programme, reflective of our Values.

The role

The role also offers the opportunity to work with managers and teams across the organisation to help inform and shape our Organisational Development processes and events and can be based within any of our locations across Wales.

We’re looking for a specialist who can demonstrate:

  • technical knowledge and experience of developing policy to effect change
  • manage projects that will influence and impact on our organisational culture
  • an understanding of organisational culture and experience in an environment where positive change has been achieved
  • strong interpersonal skills
  • confidence to build effective working relationships with colleagues and partners
  • theoretical and practical project management knowledge, techniques and software tools
  • experience in risk management and/or change management
  • the ability to distil complex issues from multiple sources, including data sources, into clear options
  • negotiating and influencing skills
  • outstanding communication and inter-personal skills with a strong customer focus
  • experience of either Organisational Development; Human Resource management; Staff Engagement and Project Management.
