Job Details
This is a highly customer-focused role and will provide an opportunity for you to gain experience, engaging and supporting internal and external stakeholders at all levels and diverse community groups in Surrey, to understand the impact of our policing approach, identify improvements and work across the organisation to raise awareness of Inclusion issues and encourage behavioural and cultural change.
You will use your creativity to produce force wide communications and attend marketing events throughout the calendar year, such as Pride, Holocaust Memorial, Black History Month, Disability History month, Mental health awareness week, and Gypsy and traveller History month.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver the Equality, Diversity & Human Rights strategy for Surrey Police under the guidance of the Surrey Police Inclusion Lead Act as the lead advisor on Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) in accordance with the Equality Act 2010 and with due regard to the Public Sector Equality Duty 2011.
Advise, inform and challenge Force policy holders in line with the PSED, 2011, to ensure appropriate equality and diversity issues are considered. With particular respect to the Protected Characteristics outlined in the Equality Act 2010.
Influence and improve existing services, policies and practices both public facing and employment related. Manage a team of EDI officers and the EDI Co-Ordinator under the guidance of the Inclusion Lead.
Skills & Experience
Experience in engaging with diverse communities and individuals and providing a high level of customer service.
Experience in planning, organising and delivering conferences and events.
Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills.
Proven experience ability to negotiate and influence others.
Ability to write reports up to Senior Management level.
Ability to develop mutual trust and confidence with key internal and external stakeholders. Good working knowledge of IT systems, in particular the Microsoft package
Working knowledge of the Equality Act 2010 and Public Sector Equality Duty, 2011.
