Deputy Director of People, Culture & Transformation

About the role

We are looking to recruit a Deputy Director of People, Culture & Transformation to lead our HR team at Great Ormond Street Hospital Children's Charity (GOSH Charity).

This is a newly created role which reports directly into Director of Finance and Resources and will be a key member of the senior team within the Finance and Resources Directorate. The post holder will be expected to visibly demonstrate their leadership of people and culture and make a contribution to the development and realisation of the Charity’s strategic objectives and people agenda. The broad responsibilities of the role provide the opportunity to lead or engage as appropriate in a number of critical projects and functions.

The role provides an exciting opportunity to make a major difference to the success of the Charity through our people and, ultimately, the wellbeing of our beneficiaries, the children and young people that are patients of Great Ormond Street Hospital and beyond.

The current impact of Covid-19 on GOSH Charity e.g. staff currently working remotely and in the office, and the negative impact on our fundraising activities and income, highlights the need for us to change in order to deliver against our Strategy, and its culture, digital and innovation enablers. As such, this role will play a fundamental part in the development and delivery of a people strategy that is focussed on culture and transformational change.

The Deputy Director for People, Culture and Transformation will also play a key role in the effective delivery of our Equality, Diversity and Inclusiveness strategy work, in which we have set out to create a truly diverse and inclusive organisation for those who work for us, for the partners we work alongside and for those we support.

About You

The passion and dedication of the people who work at GOSH Charity is what makes us such a fantastic place to work, and we are looking for someone who will be equally as dedicated to our Charity's cause, and who will thrive in our unique environment.

Our ideal candidate will be a senior People/HR leader who has experience in driving forward cross-organisational change and transformation programmes involving people, culture and systems. We are therefore looking for someone who is willing to embrace opportunities for new ways of working so that we can create a culture that is fully aligned to our Charity’s current and future needs.

The ideal candidate will also have:

  • Experience of leading an HR Team
  • Ability to engage others in driving plans forward with energy and credibility
  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship building skills
  • Experience in leading and delivering Equality, Diversity and Inclusion plans
  • Chartered MCIPD
