Job Details
Employee Relations casework will form a large proportion of your role, especially in the early days. It is therefore essential the successful candidate has a wealth of experience and accountability managing casework. You will be the contact who advises and supports managers through performance reviews, disciplinaries, grievances, capability issues, harassment and ill-health, right through to termination of employment, if necessary. As the lead you will ensure the effective management of investigating and aim to resolve employee relations issues as efficiently as possible. Linked to this, you would be responsible for reviewing the current policies and procedures to revise accordingly to ensure they are up-to-date with current legislations
Payroll within this organisation is outsourced, but you will oversee the management of the monthly staff payroll in terms of the liaison with the external provides. This will involve checking the data each month to ensure it is accurate with relevant starters, leavers promotions. Other projects will involve reviewing salary surveys to ensure staff remuneration is competitive, assisting the Head of HR with the pay and promotion process, ensuring the staff budget is regularly updates and reviewing the mid- year expenditure position.
The School and the HR department are continuously looking to improve the service for staff, visitors and students so any process improvement work and/or recommendations to improve current processes will be welcome. You will therefore form part of working groups to work with colleagues on procedural improvements and the application of policies.
This opportunity is a true Generalist role whereby you will have operational responsibility for the HR team, but also the change to be involved in a number of more strategic projects with the Head of HR. Candidates looking to apply will have worked at HR Manager level previously and will have experience working in a Public Sector HR team. Resilience is essential for this position, as is adaptability.
