Are you a HR, change management or growth management professional looking to make a difference to the education sector by joining an academy trust board? Compass Learning Partnership in Brent seeks two non-executives/directors to join its board. Board meetings are held at The Village School in Kingsbury when safe to do so.
The Academy Ambassadors programme brings the expertise of the business world onto boards at multi-academy trusts (MATs) throughout the country to raise standards of education and improve the life chances of young people, which is critical to our social and economic success.
The opportunity
Compass Learning Partnership is an academy trust with two schools which cater for children with a broad range special educational needs, including some with social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) issues which can cause challenging behaviour and others that have complex physical and medical needs. The Village School was born out of the merger of two schools and serves children between the age ranges of 3 to 19, while Woodfield School caters for pupils from 11 to 19. Both schools were judged as 'outstanding' at their last inspections, but ambitions remain high to ensure provision remains the very best and with early plans to expand provision further to hopefully provide for young adults through to the age of 25. At present, around a quarter of Woodfield's pupils are those with SEMH difficulties. Over half of the pupils across the trust have English as an additional language and a large proportion are deemed disadvantaged and thus are eligible for free school means. The team works very closely with families but a large proportion only have one parent which can be additionally challenging for children with special needs.
