Fixed Term Contract

Salary: £32,673 - £34,578 per annum

Please note, if this is a paid role and the role is part time then the salary quoted will be pro rata based on the hours worked per annum.

We are now opening recruitment for a number of skilled individuals to join our People and Organisational Development directorate to ensure we continue to deliver the best service possible to our colleagues in the organisation.

Working within our HR Advisory team you will be supporting best practice in relation to the management of our people. These roles ensure the organisational values are the foundation of our service in relation to advice and guidance.

You will be offering advice and providing insight on best practice to our colleagues on a wide range of employee relations matters including disciplinary, grievance, performance and absence management.  You will collaborate with HR colleagues across our People and OD department, empowering our managers and taking ownership to enable the right outcomes in a timely and effective way.

In these roles, your main responsibilities will be:

  • Provision of advice, guidance and support to managers on the effective management of key employee issues such as inclusion and diversity, service restructure, change and transfer of staff within and external to the organisation.
  • Leading and supporting organisational, directorate, departmental or team projects ensuring expert HR advice is provided to improve the service provision.
  • Reviewing of policies or wider activity associated with developing people practices such as leading focus groups, seeking feedback, researching practice in other organisations and providing some simple analysis of findings.
  • Provision of advice on procedural and legal requirements, and supporting the Constabulary’s Code of Ethics and Mission, Vision and Values
  • Taking an active part in HR processes including attendance, capability and disciplinary meetings and hearings as appropriate, advising management on the fairness of the action taken and making decisions in relation to disciplinary outcomes.

Skills, experience and qualifications required:

  • CIPD qualified and/or appropriate qualification/level of experience to work at Level 7 in HR Experience in an operational or organisational development HR role
  • Up to date knowledge of employment law and recognised HR practice Proven Experience of advising on casework, implementation of new and amended policies and procedures, and analysing and utilising management information
  • Effective interpersonal communication (effective presentation, delivery of training, influencing and persuading, facilitation)
  • Ability to work with a high degree of interruptions and demands for advice, cope with competing deadlines and deal positively with change
  • Experience in using different computer software

To be eligible to apply for this role you must have a 3 year ‘checkable history’ in the UK – ideally this means that you would have been resident in the UK for the last 3 years.

Individuals placed on the Police Barred and Advisory lists will not be considered for employment by the police for a minimum of 5 years from the date of listing in the case of gross misconduct, or 3 years from the date of listing in the case of poor performance.
