We have such an exciting opportunity in our new Workforce Development Service Manager post.

We are looking for someone who is committed to best practice, with a service vision who can develop the necessary plans to make improvements across our workforce e.g. our learning and development offer, an understanding of the workforce and strategic plans including recruitment.

Reporting to the Principal Social Worker, you will be a qualified Social Worker with an ability to inspire, innovate and problem solve with excellent prioritisation and organisational skills.

You will have a proven record in managing in health or social care teams. This will include leading and implementing successful service improvement. You will have experience in developing, commissioning and evaluating learning programmes and understand the requirements of registered professional programmes.

We are looking for someone who is able to:

  • Lead the development and delivery of a full learning and development programme for our registered and unregistered workforce in Adult Social Care Operations and Provider services, ensuring this aligns and develops with strategic workforce plans, local and national drivers and policy and research, allowing our workforce to meet the needs of our population.
  • Provide clear leadership of the learning and social care practice improvement programme by the development of robust, innovative and inclusive strategic plans that ensure the requirements of professional development of the registered workforce, working in partnership with other relevant organisations. 
  • Optimise the conditions for ‘excellence in practice’ through programmes and initiatives, working with the principal professional leads, practice leads, subject matter experts/champions, etc.
  • Provide management and leadership and direction to the Workforce Development Team, which will include administrative, workforce development and recruitment staff.
  • Provide leadership and management for key professional programmes such as Social Work and Occupational Therapy Education, ASYE and OT Preceptorships, SW Career progression in addition to Learning co-ordinator for AMHP and BIA/AMCP training and development.
