Sedgemoor, located in the heart of Somerset and the wider South West, is an excellent location for both employment and as a place to live. It is a highly accessible district with first class transport links including the M5, and the cities of Bristol and Exeter within easy reach. Sedgemoor District Council is an ambitious and pro-business authority, well on the way to transforming how we provide services to our customers and how we work by embracing new technology. In support of this vision we are also seeking to carve out a more strategic focus on Human Resources, Organisational Development and Learning.

The Role

Working collaboratively with the leadership team, you will champion and lead organisational change and cultural initiatives to support the development of an agile workplace. Having introduced a new structure and posts across our People Team, we are now looking for a level 7 CIPD qualified professional who embodies our corporate values, with experience of leading, planning and delivering strategic HR and OD services through a small team of professionals in support of the Council’s objectives, including the organisation wide transformation of services to our customers.

The Person

You will have experience of working at a senior level and leading high performing teams, preferably within a local government environment, coupled with a sound knowledge of employment law and able to advise senior management on complex employment issues.

It is essential that you have strong experience in delivering cultural change programmes.

Preferably a qualified coach, you will lead service improvement strategies and support the development of a high-quality, agile performance management culture.

A skilled people manager who brings out the best in others, you are able to motivate, influence and engage at all levels within the organisation. You will also have strong oral and written communications skills to engage diverse audiences including Members.
