The Royal College of Art is the world’s leading postgraduate university of art and design. Founded in 1837, it is also the world’s oldest art and design university in continuous operation and its most research intensive. Among its core audiences - students, artists and designers - the RCA brand is legendary. The generations of world-leading designers and artists who have studied or taught at the RCA is a roster of international repute.
In 2016, the RCA embarked upon the most transformational and substantive strategic plan in the institution’s history where a bold vision was established to marry creative arts and design with science, technology and medicine. As the College nears the conclusion of the plan with a new £130m+ Herzog de Meuron campus in Battersea, we now wish to appoint a HR Director to join us as we cast our eyes towards the horizon of our next strategic ambitions to 2027.
Reporting to the Executive Director Operations, the HR Director will make a strategic contribution to the College’s plans for organisational change during this time of transformation and growth, as well as ensuring that HR systems are fit for purpose, resilient, and flexible. The successful candidate will be focussed on the here and now - modernising our digital HR MIS - as well as having the experience and ambition to plan for a future beyond 2022. Key priorities include the delivery of a new strategic workforce plan, championing the College’s commitment to becoming an anti-racist institution, leading the development of our strategic approach to pay and reward and driving the implementation of the College’s Talent Strategy.
To apply, you will have significant experience of translating strategic imperatives into operational HR delivery and of taking a leading role in an organisational culture change/transformation programme. You will be future-focused and able to see the big picture with the capability to identify innovative and creative people-focused solutions to sometimes complex issues. Of vital importance is a commitment to equality and diversity and the capability to contribute to the development of a welcoming and inclusive culture. The key to your success will be your strategic approach and ability to influence and negotiate and develop strong and effective relationships with colleagues and trade union representatives.
This represents a fantastic opportunity for an individual with ambition who relishes working in a high-performing institution with a fast-moving agenda. For further information, please click the apply button or contact our retained consultant Emma Wilkins at Dixon Walter on 07741 875289 or at emma@dixonwalter.co.uk.
Closing date for applications is Friday, 12 February 2021.
Final interviews will be held in mid April 2021.
