About the Role

We’re looking for an innovative and entrepreneurial Head of Human Resources to join the Rhodes Trust and help us to become a great place to work.

You will drive the development, implementation, and maintenance of HR strategies, policies, and practices to support both the Trust’s 125th Anniversary Strategic Plan and establish policy on a global basis, tailored to regional differences in the UK and US. This is a hands-on role, requiring the ability to handle a busy caseload of transactional work alongside numerous HR projects.

A strong portfolio of generalist HR experience is required, along with CIPD level 5 or 7 qualification, and a proven track record in the following areas:

  • Supporting the management of a virtual workforce during COVID-19, maintaining business-as-usual to the extent possible, and embedding innovative ways of working that are sustainable in the new normal such as the roll-out of PeopleHR and providing a high-quality digital employee experience.
  • Providing an internal recruitment service capable of filling newly created positions and replacing existing job roles with high-quality candidates, sometimes at very short notice.
  • Handling sensitive casework e.g. maternity leave, sickness absence, contract changes/extensions in a legally compliant, confidential, and compassionate manner.
  • Designing a structure of financial and non-financial rewards.
  • Embedding diversity, equity, and inclusion as mainstream practice.
  • Leading a small team of HR professionals.

Rhodes House is based in central Oxford, there is no parking on-site, however the Trust is situated close to several public transport links.
