The role

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced senior HR professional to lead a strategic approach to developing leadership capability and enabling people and organisational change across the organisation. The People and Talent Director will ensure that the agency has the capability to expand and match businesses requirements in order to achieve its priorities during a period of transformation. This will be achieved by ensuring the Agency has the right talent to achieve its strategic goals. At the heart of this is a blended resource model approach (permanent employees, contingent workers) considering value for money as a driving principle.

Working as a key member of our strategic leadership team, the People and Talent Director will provide senior support to the Chief Finance Officer and our Chief Executive Officer in the design and delivery of our Strategic Plan.

Providing strategic and inspirational leadership to an ambitious and innovative Human Resources Team (including four direct reports), the People and Talent Director will drive an entrepreneurial approach to deliver core business by embedding an agile, flexible, performance-driven and inclusive culture.

This is a rare chance to shape the future of Human Resources in a fast-growing, national organisation. The role is a transformative one and we have several ambitious projects to lead on including, but not limited to, reward, workforce planning and resourcing, performance management, renumeration and grading, capability and learning and the implementation of a true business partnering model.

The role will be critical in leading the agency through the challenges that a pandemic presents and therefore a flexible and creative approach is important, particularly around colleague wellbeing, new ways of working and reward.

About you

You will be a highly accomplished senior HR leader with significant experience implementing strategic change. You will have experience of leading an HR function with multiple transformational objectives.

You will be able to demonstrate a strong understanding of the commercial benefits that a high performing HR function can bring to an organisation and be resilient enough to ensure that this is at the forefront of senior organisational decision making.  This approach will be underpinned by a strong commitment to diversity and inclusion by ensuring our approach has this at the core of everything we do.

An experienced and inspirational senior leader, you will bring a strong track record of positive, collaborative leadership and of creating and sustaining inclusive engaged teams. You will also have a proven track record of leading HR functions within a complex, fast paced and ever-changing environment.

You will be a senior-level member of the CIPD or have equivalent demonstrable experience. You will also hold a bachelor’s degree or have equivalent experience in human resources or management. You will be an experienced coach possessing relevant qualifications up to executive level.

Experience of leading and collaborating on multiple strategic workstreams, and associated budgets, from inception to ‘business as usual’ is critical.

Delivering on a mission as bold as ours isn’t always easy. You will be resilient and comfortable influencing and communicating at board level and your discussions will always be shaped by a good understanding of the commercial and operational impact of what we do as an agency. You will enjoy working in an innovative and engaging way and be able to motivate a team to help deliver our strategic mission.

It is anticipated (remote) assessments will take place (subject to change) - Stage 1 w/c 15 February, Stage 2 w/c 22 February, Final Stage w/c 8 March

Who are we?

We are the Government’s national housing agency. Our role is to accelerate the pace of housebuilding across the country, particularly in areas where there are the most serious affordability issues – meaning people are struggling to find homes.

We have the appetite, influence, expertise and resources to drive positive market change and meet the Government’s ambition to deliver 300,000 new homes a year. We are using our land, influence, funds and knowledge to increase the pace, scale and quality of new homes accelerating delivery in areas of greatest demand and helping create great places to live. Within the next few years, we will have invested over £27 billion across our programmes. To deliver against these aims we’re building a different kind of public service - join us to help make this happen.
