About us

The Local Government Association speaks with one voice on behalf of local government in England and Wales. Made up of elected representatives from all the different political parties, we aim to set the political agenda and have our say in the national media on the issues that matter to council members. There has never been a more exciting time to work for us.

The role

Having recently reviewed our approach to equality, diversity and inclusion, the LGA is now embarking on an ambitious strategy and action plan (which is currently in consultation with staff) that involves dedicated focus to our internal work in this area. We are progressive in our plans to become an organisation which truly embraces difference, embedding equality, diversity and inclusion into our core values, policies and practices and the HR Adviser (EDI) will support on HR activity to really embed change across the organisation.

The work is broad and diverse and will see you working on multiple activities alongside our HR and Payroll Manager, Head of Improvement and others in the team, to the overall ideas of the LGA in relation to equality, diversity and inclusion.

The requirements

You will have a solid background in HR, specifically directing a wide-ranging activity in relation to Equality, Diversity and Inclusion, and will ideally be CIPD qualified. You will be experienced in working on multiple projects, taking ownership for your own work and working with limited supervision.

Experience of Local Government is not essential, but it would be beneficial. We are interested in hearing from people who have worked across a variety of sectors.

We don’t expect you to know it all, but an inquisitive approach, a positive ‘can do’ attitude and being solution focussed are important attributes for the role.

You must have the right to work in the UK, the LGA are unfortunately unable to offer sponsorship visas. Evidence for the right to work in the UK will be requested at the interview stage.
