An Garda Síochána, Ireland’s national police and security service, is growing, reforming and changing. As part of its modernisation programme, An Garda Síochána is looking to recruit a Human Resources Director to play a pivotal role in the continued development, implementation and monitoring of An Garda Síochána’s HR strategies.

To provide more responsive, efficient and effective policing services, fundamental changes are currently being made to the structure of the organisation. Through implementing a new Organisation Operating Model, An Garda Síochána is moving from a geographic to a functional model of police service provision, organising its personnel resources around the policing services provided.

The successful candidate will support the Executive Director in leading Human Resources and People Development and providing the necessary vision, leadership, and people management skills to ensure the organisation achieves the highest standards of policing excellence. The person will drive the delivery of HR strategic initiatives, including the development and integration of a new HR IT system and the continued embedding of new and revised HR processes, based on this new Organisation Operating Model and the Government’s A Policing Service for the Future four year Plan (2019-2022) to implement the Report of the Commission on the Future of Policing in Ireland.

The person appointed to this key role will have a Post-graduate/ Professional qualification in Human Resources Management and significant management experience and a track record of developing and delivering HR strategy in the areas of HR Operations, HR Projects, HR Policy & Systems and Workforce Planning. The HR Director will be highly skilled in strategic HR, ideally with experience in a large, dispersed organisation, with excellent vision, leadership and resource management skills. They will possess the ability to empower and influence others to ensure the achievement of the highest possible standards of excellence in delivering the HR function and its activities.

Applications are welcomed from candidates of an appropriate calibre with relevant senior management HR leadership experience.

The closing date for receipt of completed applications is 3pm on Thursday 29th April 2021.
