About us

We are the UK's leading independent funder of heart and circulatory research. For 60 years we've funded ground-breaking research that is getting us closer than ever to a world free from the fear of heart and circulatory diseases. With our research we give people hope. With our expert advice and training, we give people knowledge and support. And with our campaigning we help build a healthier world for everyone.

Our work has never been more needed. During the pandemic millions of people have turned to us for support and information. We are supporting vital research into the link between Covid-19 and cardiovascular disease. At the same time, we've faced the biggest financial challenge in our 60-year history, losing half our annual income.

About the role

As a strategic and operational leader, you will inspire our large, award-winning team HR team of talented colleagues with your vision.  You will be responsible for developing a customer centric People Operations function by providing overall leadership on Human Resources support and services across the organisation including People Systems, People Relations, Recruitment, Reward and People Operations and Analytics.

About you

The incoming Head of HR will be an established senior HR leader with a track record of leading a large HR function with a range of HR services   You’ll be an authentic leader and will bring excellent influencing and communication skills, and the ability to build support, across a large complex organisation.

Whilst previous experience of the non-profit sector is not required, the incoming Head of HR will have Retail and commercial experience and be a role model to our organisation and highly motivated by our mission and the values that we live by every day: we are brave, informed, compassionate and driven.

This is an exceptional opportunity for an outstanding HR leader to build on our team's achievements and make a lasting impact in our work to beat heartbreak forever.

The role will be based in London and the salary is attractive and commensurate with the seniority of the role.

About us

Everything we do comes back to beating heartbreak from all heart and circulatory conditions including heart failure, stroke and vascular dementia. Every hour of research we’ve ever funded, every item we’ve ever sold, every campaign we’ve ever run, all the support we’ve ever given. The donations we receive are used to make people’s lives healthier and longer.

Here at the BHF we understand that you might need a little help balancing your work and home life.  Many of our people work flexibly in many different ways. Please feel free to talk to us about the flexibility you may need; we’re happy to explore what’s possible for you and the role.

Interview process

The interview process will be held over MS Teams and the first interview will be on 11/12/13 May and the second interview on 20 May 2021.
