Salary

The General Medical Council (GMC) works to protect patient safety and improve medical education and practice across the UK. The medical profession is one of the most diverse professions in the UK and our staff must excel in delivering our services in a fair and inclusive way.  As Learning & Organisational Development Manager, you’ll have the chance to influence our approach to Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) training and how we support our individuals and teams to meet our ambitions of being an effective, relevant and compassionate multi-professional regulator.

Our recent corporate strategy sets out how equality, diversity and inclusion are integral to all our work as a regulator and employer. We will work with others to make healthcare environments more supportive, inclusive and fair and we’ll foster an inclusive, caring and learning environment for all GMC colleagues.

We now need an experienced Learning and OD professional to help ensure our colleagues have the knowledge and skills to consider EDI themes and requirements when undertaking their work. That means analysing learning needs across our directorates and making recommendations to shape our EDI training portfolio. In this role you’ll work closely with colleagues in our L&OD and EDI teams to deliver programmes that support our ambitions.

Day-to-day, you’ll be consulting with colleagues across the GMC and leading your project from scoping to implementation and providing advice on L&OD policies and processes. You will help us to equip our colleagues with a better understanding of EDI themes, benefitting patients, doctors and other health professionals across the UK.

To join us, you’ll need experience running a similar learning needs analysis project, either with another complex organisation or as a consultant. With this background, you’ll be used to working with varied stakeholders including senior-level colleagues. It’s important that you can work collaboratively, taking into account others’ perspectives and goals as you shape your final recommendations. Strong communication skills are therefore essential, along with project management abilities. Ideally, you’ll be CIPD-qualified (or equivalent) and EDI experience will be valuable but not essential.

You’ll benefit from being part of an organisation that is genuinely committed to its people. Our friendly environment is built around professional well-being and flexibility. We are happy to support a range of flexible working options. Flexible working requests will be considered in line with the policy. to find out more about of benefits package  please click here.

Due to Covid 19, the successful applicant will commence working from home with a supportive induction package, with a plan to return to an office based role at a later date. As with our usual arrangements we will be able to offer up to two working from home days per week.

The GMC values diversity and has made a public commitment to processes and procedures that are fair, objective, transparent and free from discrimination.

We strongly believe that diversity of background and experience contributes to a broader collective perspective that will consistently lead to us being a better regulator. We are working hard to increase the diversity of our staff, and also the diversity of those we work with wherever we can and we would actively encourage applicants from diverse backgrounds to apply.
