Location: Cheltenham and home based

Salary: Circa £45-55k per annum – may flex on this for a superstar

Contract type: Fixed Term Contract (with a good chance of a permanent role thereafter)

Home-working: At the moment the role is home-based. From August it is likely to change to 3 days per week in the office.

Hours: Full-time but would consider someone looking for 4 days per week.

Duration: 6-12 months initially – then potentially permanent

Start: ASAP but could wait a bit for the right person

Our client has big ambitions for their Talent agenda and this role is critical for them to realise their strategic plans. This role is about delivering an amazing experience for their people right across the talent cycle. They will be looking to you to shape and coordinate their Organization development, Leadership & Talent agenda right from entry level talent to emerging HiPo talent and leadership - it's all up for review.

You’ll have the chance to take a leading role in creating their plans for the coming years building the pipeline of great managers and leaders. As they grow they’re looking for game changing talent and this role is crucial at helping ensure that they are delivering against the talent requirements.

What will be keeping you busy?

This role will join a newly created HR global function in a newly formed division. Our client, a well-established business has re-organised for future growth, forming a new Global Supply Chain division, connecting 11 sites across the globe, driving together operational excellence and enabling future business growth. As part of their strategy, they want to create an environment where employees feel inspired, engaged and personally accountable as part of a diverse, high-performing team.

In this role you will lead talent and OD projects with the objective to unleash the full potential of the divisional talents across the network, creating communities of practice and opportunities for people to collaborate and make an impact on local and global level. Developing effective organizational structure, robust succession for key roles and great career paths for people will be your key areas of contribution in delivering sustainable success for the business.

Key responsibilities:

  • As a key and active member of a global HR team, reporting to the divisional Head of HR, you’ll bring cutting edge thinking to help challenge and influence the business, working in close collaboration with senior leaders and HR colleagues across the division and in group HR, contributing to the Divisional Strategy and long-term plan and annual plan.
  • You will develop and execute the T&OD strategies needed to deliver the People and Talent global divisional plan, aligned with Divisional and Group HR priority initiatives, and with the aim of directly contributing to the Division achieving sustained profitable growth.
  • Partner with stakeholders across the business to drive improvements in organizational effectiveness, talent management, recruitment, development and retention of key talents and employee engagement ensuring we attract and retain top talent and diverse candidates across the Division.
  • In your role you will focus initially on the following key initiatives:
  1. Work closely with Head of HR on Organizational map and capability discovery. Identify and analyse the current organizational structure and talent needs -‘what is’ of the network and recommend areas for improvement and engaging plan to drive greater organizational effectiveness, capability enhancement and future growth.
  2. Lead the Talent and performance management processes for the division, including succession planning and development plans, providing insight and analysis, coaching GMs and HR site leaders in developing succession and development strategies for their talents.
  3. Develop global role profiles and great career paths for leadership key positions in collaboration with key stakeholders and HR partners. Develop and introduce internal communication plan to support the deployment of the framework.
  4. Develop, deliver and coordinate the Global Leadership programme for GMs and for site leadership teams in collaboration with external partners, HR site leaders and key stakeholders
  5. Act as the division PoC for EVP (employee value proposition), develop Engagement plan for the division and strategy with focus on talent attraction and retention.

Who are we looking for?

Our client is open minded. Above all they want smart people who are ambitious and keen to grow. This is a contract role but ultimately, they are hopefully going to be looking for someone on a permanent basis.

We’re looking for someone who has perhaps built their career with an early generalist HR background and then focused on building depth in the Learning, Talent and OD space. You’ll have a real passion for Talent and Leadership Development, drawing on experiences gained in strong brands with best in class delivery of talent and leadership strategies. Someone who has held L&D roles with broader talent experience would be of interest. Sector experience is not required.

You’ll also have creative flair to help foster a positive culture. You’ll work well in a fast-paced environment, collaborating in matrix, multi – cultural environment, managing multiple challenges and taking them all in your stride. You’ll be organised and demonstrate strong planning and project management skills with an affinity for data that will help you influence and measure your impact.

You’ll push the boundaries to deliver the right outcome for the business and manage stakeholder expectations as part of the course. And, thanks to your excellent presentation skills and coaching style, you’ll be able to get your point across to the most senior people in our client’s business.
