We are looking for a Head of People & Inclusion to develop and deliver our people strategy.  Reporting directly to the Executive Director, this is a key role in our team and you will be responsible for supporting the Senior Management Team to deliver our commitment to develop our people and culture.  The arts face challenging times; therefore, it is even more essential to ensure Crafts Council staff are well supported with opportunities to grow and develop and that our culture is engaging, resilient and future facing.

This fantastic role spans the full employee life-cycle and offers the opportunity to build and shape the function as the organisation navigates new ways of working and supporting the Craft sector. You will act as a true sounding board to all internal stakeholders, and will be comfortable managing strategic projects as well as operational matters. We are a lean organisation, so a can-do attitude is key.

Key duties

  • Effectively balance a mix of demands and help our Senior Management Team create an open, creative, high performance culture
  • Manage the full HR remit, administer payroll, oversee recruitment and induction, performance management inc. quarterly personal growth plans and annual salary review
  • Provide strategic direction and lead on a number or inclusivity projects to ensure the organisation lives its commitment to social justice and effecting lasting change

Who you are

You are a natural collaborator with an ability to identify key staffing issues and concerns and translate these into strategic actions.  With experience providing end-to-end HR support to a similar sized organisation (50 staff and a number of freelancers) you will be able to work at ease in a stand alone post and will have a genuine passion for creating a best-in-class people function.

You will be fully committed to living our values to be a pioneering, open and playful organisation and will be a passionate advocate for addressing anti-racism and inequality through the arts.  Most importantly you will have the drive and determination to turn this into deliverable action.

Job Type: Permanent, part time 0.6FTE (3 days or 21.75 hours per week), we are open to flexible working patterns

Salary: £39,000 - £45,000 pro rata depending on experience

If you feel that you have the qualities to make a difference and the desire to help build a stronger organisation, then we are very interested in hearing from you.
