Our aim is to be the best NHS Trust to work for in the country.  Join us as we embark on an exciting period of new investment and transformation in our People Directorate.

Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (OUH) is a world-renowned centre of clinical excellence and one of the largest NHS teaching trusts in the UK. The Trust is made up of four hospitals - the John Radcliffe Hospital, the Churchill Hospital and the Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre, all located in Oxford, and the Horton General Hospital in Banbury, north Oxfordshire. The Trust employs over 11,000 staff and provides a full range of clinical and specialist services. Our collaboration with the University of Oxford underpins the quality of the care that is provided to patients, from the delivery of high-quality research, bringing innovation from the laboratory bench to the bedside, to the delivery of high-quality education and training of doctors.

Following the appointment of our new Chief People Officer (CPO), our People Directorate is going through an exciting period of positive development. Our aspirational business case sets out the investment required and roadmap ahead to make OUH one of the best Trusts to work for in the country. With the full support of Trust leadership, we are now beginning that journey and are recruiting key new posts that will play a critical role in delivering our ambition.

As our new Assistant Director of Workforce – Planning, Information & Systems, you will report directly to the CPO as a member of the People Directorate’s senior leadership team and deputise for the Director of Workforce. This is a high-profile role where you will contribute to Trust strategies and plans, providing vision and strategic direction for the workforce content.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Undertaking demand, capacity and activity modelling ensuring the Trust has fit for purpose long-term workforce plans.
  • Providing strategic leadership to the workforce information and HR records team, ensuring the highest quality standard of workforce data analysis and presentation across the organisation.
  • Providing strategic oversight in relation to all workforce-related systems and digital solutions, developing strategy for their use and monitoring implementation and effectiveness.
  • Working with the Director of Workforce, providing strong workforce planning leadership to the HR Business Partners and HR teams in the Divisions, supporting workforce planning capability and capacity at Divisional and service level.
  • Representing the Trust externally on system-level working groups and meetings and playing a key role in workforce planning across the wider health economy

The successful candidate will have experience working at a senior level within the NHS, wider public sector, or a large complex organisation. You will need extensive knowledge and experience of workforce planning together with a focus on demand capacity and activity modelling. We have significant investment planned in digital transformation and experience in this area would also be valued.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a leading health care provider and work closely with a high calibre executive team, playing a key role in ensuring the Trust has fit for purpose, long-term workforce plans to provide excellent healthcare services.
