We are committed to bringing Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) into the centre of our organisation and to building a more equitable, inclusive and diverse work culture.  We are looking for an exceptional manager to help us shape and develop EDI strategies and best practice across our work in order to bring about fundamental change. We value and recognise how essential it is for our staff, partners and residents to feel welcome and to feel a sense of belonging when they work with us.

The Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Manager is a newly created position, and its main focus is to be the organisational expert providing strategic advice, guidance and support to the EDI agenda for the workforce, customers and the community promoting more equitable and inclusive work environments, and to help guide us on the journey we have started. Specifically to: 

  • Ensure the collaborative development, publication, implementation review and evaluation of the Council’s EDI Strategy and Equality Objectives.
  • Embed the EDI Strategy, develop and implement strategic policies, operational practices and action plans.
  • Lead on implementing the outcomes of the Equality and Diversity review.
  • Provide and implement solutions to and ensure effective oversight of complex equality, diversity and inclusion challenges within the framework of relevant legislation ensuring compliance with that legislation.
  • Ensure the provision of a high standard of advice, support and delivery across the Council on EDI matters.

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of developing EDI strategies, leading and embedding cultural change and building strong relationships with colleagues and external organisations. Excellent communication skills are essential.
