This is an opportunity to contribute to the community within the Greater Gloucestershire area by becoming an Academy Ambassador at South Gloucestershire and Stroud Academy Trust. Board meetings are held at GL13 9FB when safe to do so.

The Academy Ambassadors programme brings the expertise of the business world onto boards at multi-academy trusts (MATs) throughout the country to raise standards of education and improve the life chances of young people, which is critical to our social and economic success.

The opportunity

South Gloucestershire and Stroud Academy Trust (SGSAT) oversees three schools in the Greater Gloucestershire area. The trust aspires to be agile in meeting the gaps in local education provision with the support of its sponsor, SGS College. Its board seeks to recruit four non-executive directors/charity trustees with expertise in one or more of secondary school improvement, estate management, SEND, or HR to oversee the delivery of its strategic priorities. Board meetings are held virtually or in-person at the UTC Berkeley GL13 9FB or a College Campus in Stoke Gifford BS34 8LP when safe to do so.

The board seeks 4 business leaders with board-level experience in

* HR
* Property / Estate / Asset Management
* SEND (autism, social care)
* Education Leadership (secondary school improvement)

As a key member of the board you will support the trust in achieving the following over the next 12 - 24 months:

1 School improvement - The trust aims to both secure and accelerate school improvement at the existing schools, not just for OFSTED inspection purposes, but to entrench a learning environment that inspires students to become confident, ethical and compelling individuals with the aspiration and qualities to shape a better future for all.
2 Trust growth - The trust is planning to successfully build and open a new 900 student mainstream comprehensive school following approval of the trust's Free School bid under Wave 14.
3 Future strategy - The trust wants to further develop, refine and implement a strategy for an enhanced long-term future for the Schools in the trust.
