Innovate in learning and development to build government-wide capability in project delivery

About us

From national railways to regional hospitals, military capabilities to housing, health databases to full fibre networks, the Infrastructure and Projects Authority (IPA) delivers government projects that impact the lives of millions of people.

The IPA is the government’s centre of expertise for infrastructure and major projects. We sit at the heart of government, reporting to the Cabinet Office and HM Treasury. Our cadre of experts builds professional project leadership capacity and capability, ready to deploy across government and deliver world-class results.

The Function, Profession and Standards Team sets and drives continuing improvement in functional standards of project delivery; builds professional capability and capacity; delivers world-class leadership and learning programmes; and provides leadership to the project delivery profession across government.

About the role

Joining the Function, Profession and Standards Team, you will contribute to the establishment of the Government Projects Academy (GPA), a single, virtual hub enabling project delivery professionals across government to access standards, accreditation and training materials. Specifically, you will utilise your experience designing, developing, and implementing innovative and effective learning and development solutions to support the development and roll-out of a new project delivery learning curriculum.

A key challenge will be redesigning our learning offer and creating cost-effective, user-centred, evidence-based solutions. Expect to work closely with design leads and a project manager as well as other members of the Function, Profession & Standards team, particularly the Leadership & Learning and Resource & Talent teams and a range of internal and external stakeholders.

About you

Holding a relevant professional qualification, such as CIPD, you’ll bring experience in designing, developing and implementing innovative learning and development solutions. You’ll be used to building and managing relationships with key stakeholders, which should include skills in negotiating, consulting and collaborating. Evidence of digital proficiency is essential as you will need to use technology to deliver services and value for money.  Well organised, you’ll also have excellent communication skills.

Benefits

We offer a range of benefits including a generous leave allowance, flexible working options, learning and development tailored to your role, and a Civil Service pension.
