Are you a skilled leader with a passion for using your knowledge and experiences to deliver a people centred, high performing organisation? Do you share our belief that increasing the diversity of our staff will greatly boost the Council’s ability to deliver services that are better able to respond to the lived experience of our residents? Can you translate your personal experience to understand the everyday working lives of our people? Have you delivered sustained change which made a significant difference to the working lives of managers and employees?
London Borough of Waltham Forest is looking for a Director who can lead transformation for all our colleagues as part of our new People Strategy. Your lived and professional experience are very important to us, but they do not need to include experience of working in a local authority or as a HR lead. Indeed, your difference as a visible people ambassador and advocate for change are the key.
We want to explore with candidates how you would create a sustainable way for managers to identify and develop our people’s potential and support their teams to work in a truly flexible way. We want to hear how you would lead the development of our strategic HR service, help embed our belief that public service can be performed by anyone anywhere, and ensure that our staff are empowered to be at the heart of public service in our community.
We want to hear from you if you can lead this transformation in a way that is visible across the Council, motivating change and supporting teams across the breadth of our services. You will join the Corporate Development team who support the council in the development and delivery of our corporate strategy, drive strategic change, and communicate and engage with our residents and staff.
We are determined to close the gap for groups of staff underrepresented at a more senior level and tackle the deficits in recruitment and promotion that have been identified for women and Black and Minority Ethnic staff.
We are keen to hear from all applicants who fit the criteria. Because we are clear that a combination of difference in our teams produces the best team performance, we are particularly keen to make sure that applicants include people from ethnic minorities, people who live openly as LGBTQI+, or with a disability. We recognise that what people bring through their personal experiences, background and identity significantly enhances the Council’s ability to deliver to our staff and residents.
If you are interested in being part of this exciting opportunity and working for an employer with flexible working options and award-winning family friendly policies, you can apply via the Apply button for more information/application pack or contact Julie Towers on 07764 791736 or Fiyin Fayeye on 07712 548677 if you would like to discuss this opportunity.
