The Academy Ambassadors programme brings the expertise of the business world onto boards at multi-academy trusts (MATs) throughout the country to raise standards of education and improve the life chances of young people, which is critical to our social and economic success.

The opportunity

Dunstan Catholic Educational Trust is a brand-new multi-academy trust which will initially have six schools within the local authority areas of Somerset and North Somerset and all within the south and western parts of the Clifton Diocese. The trust is already registered at Companies House but all other arrangements are at the planning stage and thus these roles provide an exciting opportunity for non-executive directors to shape the future of education in the region and be part of a trailblazing enterprise. Plans are in place for the schools to transfer into the trust from 1st March 2022 but it is hoped the trustees will meet to oversee the strategic planning to allow the trust to get off to a strong start. The trust seeks four non-executive directors with board-level expertise in audit, accountancy, education leadership, HR or strategic leadership to join a small group of initial appointments adding vital skills and a capacity for the future. Applicants of all faiths (or those of no faith) are welcome. Board meetings will be taking place virtually or at Alexander House BS5 0TX, when safe to do so.

The board seeks four leaders with board-level experience in

* Audit or Qualified Accountant OR
* Education Leadership or Child Welfare and Safeguarding OR
* Estates/Facilities Management OR
* HR (including Staffing / Performance Management) OR
* Transformation Management

As a key member of the board you will support the trust in achieving the following over the next 12 - 24 months:

1 Recruiting key people - The Diocese is currently supporting the working groups to recruit the executive team and trust board of directors.
2 School improvement - to continue the challenge of ensuring high quality education.
3 Financial management - to ensure viability and sustainability across the trust and maximize the economies of scale to ensure resources are targeted appropriately.
