Arts University Bournemouth is renowned globally as a professional arts university, dedicated to turning creativity into careers. Our culture of making, performing, and shaping cultures is at the heart of our learning, research and engagement. Our values speak of collaboration, connectedness and innovative practice, underpinned by a passion for our academic disciplines and extensive partnerships with industry, professions and communities.

We are committed to equality of opportunity for all staff and strive for our staff to be from diverse backgrounds.  We positively encourage applications from individuals within under-represented groups and welcome applications from individuals regardless of age, disability, sex, gender reassignment, sexual orientation, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion or belief and marriage and civil partnerships.

We are seeking to recruit a Senior Officer (Equality, Diversity an Inclusion) to further our work in promoting equality, diversity and inclusion throughout the University community, including in relation to the legally protected characteristics.  This will include advising the University Secretary, and other senior managers, on the relevant legislation and best practice, and translating this into action for AUB.

The University has created an ambitious EDI Action Plan, with clear performance indicators.  You will be responsible for monitoring progress against the Plan and ensuring that targets are met.  A key element of the role is thus ensuring legal compliance and coordinating the necessary external and internal reports on progress.

You will be part of the newly-formed cross-functional EDI team, working with relevant colleagues to identify and implement staff and student training programmes, and to provide accessible reference materials to support managers, staff and students.

It will be imperative that you use your strong negotiation skills to build powerful professional relationships, both within the University and across external networks, and are able to secure the full benefits of positive collaboration.

You will be passionate about the transformative power of higher education, and will be keen to adopt innovative approaches to eliminate inequality and promote diversity and inclusion across the whole University community.
