Wirral Met College’s mission is to enhance economic prosperity through high quality, work-related education and training, supporting around 10,500 students every year. The College is IiP accredited, a Disability Confident Employer and a World Skills UK Centre of Excellence.

We operate from five modern, well-equipped campuses, including our newest addition Hamilton campus and the RIBA award winning Wirral Waters campus, which is part of the largest regeneration project in Europe and is one of the UK Enterprise Zones.  Our facilities have enjoyed over £30 million pounds of investment in recent years. We work closely with businesses and community partners to drive innovation, create opportunities for growth and provide industry-standard learning experiences.  The College has outstanding financial health and is graded by Ofsted at Grade 2.

In order to deliver our aspirational plans, we want to attract, retain and develop a workforce of the highest calibre to continue our journey  to outstanding. Fundamental to this will be an impactful, forward-looking HR Director. This exciting opportunity has become available due to the current post holder moving to a promotional post after a very successful tenure at the College.  In this slightly recrafted role as HR Director you will continue to implement our People Strategy, continue to shape and develop a successful organisation and establish us as an exemplar of best practice in HR.

Building from a strong foundation you will continue to embed our HR, OD and workforce development strategies to continue to nurture an environment where individuals can flourish, where talent is identified and developed to its fullest potential, and where performance measures support progression and reward. You will lead on developing a skilled, committed workforce, through succession planning initiatives which provide opportunities and future-proof the College.  You will develop impactful attraction strategies which will continue to position the College as an employer of choice. Leading a highly motivated HR team and acting as a key business driver, you will provide guidance and effective support to the senior leadership team and line managers on strategic and operational HR matters.

Our successful candidate should be CIPD qualified with substantial HR leadership experience within a complex environment. A proactive driver of change, you will have a successful track record of organisational development, devising and embedding effective strategies which positively impact the success of a whole organisation. You should also have the ability to motivate and inspire a large, diverse workforce as well as developing managers and leaders alike in a 1:1 setting.

So if you have a passion in the College Vision “To be an Inclusive and Outstanding College”, this could be the opportunity for you.
