Join a Nobel Peace Prize laureate that is saving and changing lives every single day.

The Mines Advisory Group (MAG) finds and destroys landmines and unexploded bombs to help some of the world’s most vulnerable people stay safe, and rebuild their lives after war. We also campaign for a landmine-free world, work to remove small arms from fragile communities and deliver innovative risk education lessons to those forced to live with the deadly contamination of conflict. We employ some 5,000 committed and highly skilled people in 30 countries and are regarded as a global leader in disarmament practice and policy. Our mission is to get to every landmine before a child does. And to save lives and build futures for those whose communities have been shattered by war.

We are now looking for a values-led, resilient, and experienced Director of People and Culture with excellent interpersonal, influencing, and communication skills, as well as deep integrity, and vision. You will be a key member of the Leadership Team, contributing to the strategic leadership and oversight of the organisation and responsible for ensuring that MAG builds culture and practice to safeguard the health, wellbeing and human rights of all staff, partners and communities.

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, you will play a key role in embedding MAG’s values through the leadership and delivery of key strategic projects relating to organisational culture and change. You will bring experience of working within a complex, global organisation and a track record of developing and implementing strategy, leading on change and transformation programmes, equality, diversity & inclusion, safeguarding, and handling complex employee relations. You will hold membership of the CIPD (or equivalent) relevant equivalent experience

An analytical, empowering, and strategic leader, you will have an understanding of the NGO environment, and the ability to work sensitively and diplomatically across an international stakeholder environment. You will bring knowledge of best practice in relation to people management, developing organisational culture, and experience of working closely with HR and with safeguarding teams.

MAG is committed to being an organisation enhanced by diversity of all kinds and encourages applications from all qualified individuals, irrespective of gender, disability, marital or parental status, racial, ethnic or social origin, colour, religion, belief, or sexual orientation.

We will welcome candidates who wish this role to be part-time or on a job share basis.

To apply and download the appointment details, please visit https://candidates.perrettlaver.com/vacancies/, quoting reference 5339. The closing date for applications is Monday 18th October 2021.

The role will be part of the Head Office team based in Manchester, UK. Our office in the UK is in

central Manchester, although MAG is currently consulting with staff on what our new ways of working could look like in the future. The role involves up to 4 weeks of overseas travel per year.

The starting salary for this role is £71,184, rising to up to £80,544 over 5 years, plus pension and other benefits. For an exceptional candidate, MAG may consider a starting salary at a higher point in the scale.

As part of MAG's commitment to safeguarding, this post is subject to background checks before an offer of employment is confirmed, including receipt of satisfactory references and screening checks, such as criminal records and anti-terrorism checks. MAG also participates in the Inter Agency Misconduct Disclosure Scheme.
