Marlborough College provides an exceptional contemporary education set in a beautiful environment steeped in history. It is a welcoming community where ambition and scholarship are highly valued, creativity is celebrated, diversity is embraced and where each pupil is encouraged and challenged to be the best that they can be.

Marlborough enjoys a well-established reputation as one of the UK’s leading co-educational full boarding schools where pupils discover and explore their individual interests far beyond the traditional curriculum. The Second Master is the substantive deputy and is responsible for the day-to-day management of the College. For leaders aspiring to headship, this is an outstanding opportunity to work closely with Louise Moelwyn-Hughes, now in her fourth year as Master, both in leading and managing the College, and in contributing to the development and delivery of strategy for this next important chapter in Marlborough’s evolution. The successful candidate will create opportunities for all teaching staff within the College and open up pathways for progress on a whole school level, while enhancing an already exceptional record of academic and co-curricular achievement.

The post offers opportunities for a talented individual to develop and broaden their leadership and management skills in a large, complex and high performing institution. The experience gained in this role will provide an excellent platform from which to pursue the very best senior leadership opportunities with the highest calibre schools in the UK and internationally.

Direct experience of the independent sector is not a pre-requisite and applications are encouraged from senior leaders outside the education sector.

Completed applications should be uploaded at: https://candidates.perrettlaver.com/vacancies/ quoting reference number 5347. The closing date for applications is 08:30 BST on Thursday 14 October 2021.

Marlborough College is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and the College Council expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.  The successful candidate must be willing to undergo child protection screening appropriate to this post.
