Full-time (37.5h) / Permanent

Based in Islington, London

If you have experience of HR administration and support across the employee lifecycle, ideally with a CIPD qualification or working towards it, this role as HR Officer is an excellent opportunity to build a great career here at Greenpeace.

Greenpeace is an international non-profit global campaigning organisation. Our independence and global reach enable us to stand for positive change through action in order to defend nature and promote peace. We investigate and expose global environmental problems, confront those in positions of power and present alternative solutions.

This is a great opportunity to broaden your HR administration and support skills, build on your database experience, and help to deliver a quality service that supports our activities.

Working within our busy and innovative People & Culture unit, you’ll be supporting the HR team in the provision of a high-quality service to staff and line managers. Your responsibilities will include being the first point of contact for day-to-day HR queries, as well as supporting all employee lifecycle processes – from carrying out new starter inductions and providing advice and administration for employee benefits, to producing contractual documentation, conducting leaver processes and handling data reporting/metrics.

For the full job description and person specification, please download the applicant information pack.

The role will be remote initially as we continue to be home based under COVID-19. However, the candidate should be able to commute into our London office in the long term.

Requirements You'll have

  • Experience of HR administration and support across the employee lifecycle, ideally with CIPD qualification or working towards it.
  • Excellent organisational skills, numeracy and accuracy, with the ability to manage and develop effective administrative systems and processes.
  • Database experience, including updating, maintaining and extracting data, plus good IT skills across MS Office.
  • A strong customer focus, with the ability to communicate widely, build good working relationships, and drive a quality service.
  • An understanding of equality and diversity principles and how they apply in an HR context.

We give you: The opportunity to continue to develop both personally and professionally, taking advantage of the wide range of learning and development opportunities available to our staff. We offer great benefits such as a generous pension scheme, subsidised lunches, free yoga and a wealth of well-being resources, just to name a few. Take a look at our Work for Greenpeace pages to find out more about what it’s like to work for us and why you should apply.

Our commitment to diversity: Greenpeace UK is committed to providing equal opportunities for everyone regardless of their background. We acknowledge that people from certain backgrounds are under-represented in environmental and campaigning organisations and we’re committed to doing what we can to correct this. We are particularly keen to receive applications from people of colour; people with disabilities; people who identify as being LGTBQIA; people who have a mental health condition; and people who identify as working class now or in the past.

Company

eenpeace is a movement of people who are passionate about defending the natural world from destruction. Our vision is a greener, healthier and more peaceful planet, one that can sustain life for generations to come.

We are independent. We don’t accept any funding from governments, corporations or political parties – our work is funded by ordinary people. That means we are free to confront governments and corporations responsible for the destruction of the natural world and push for real change.

We do this by investigating, documenting and exposing the causes of environmental destruction. We work to bring about change by lobbying, consumer pressure and mobilising members of the general public. And we take peaceful direct action to protect our Earth and promote solutions for a green and peaceful future.

Greenpeace was founded in 1971 by a small group of concerned individuals, who set sail to Amchitka island off the coast of Alaska to try and stop a US nuclear weapons test. Their old fishing boat was called “The Greenpeace”. Today, Greenpeace is present in over 40 countries around the world. Our movement is growing every day and our commitment to realising our vision is as strong as ever.

We find ourselves at a pivotal point in human history now. Climate change is rapidly accelerating and we are feeling the effects of it ever more – in the changes to our air, sea levels and more extreme weather events. The need to act to protect our planet has never been so urgent, yet governments and corporations are still dragging their feet. Our mission is to promote radical changes and new solutions to the ways we live on this planet so that we can all call it home for generations to come.
