Bedfordshire Police, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Constabularies (BCH) are looking to recruit an experienced HR Consultant to join their collaborated HR team based in Chord Park, Godmanchester, Huntingdonshire.
This is an exciting time to join BCH with the HR function having recently embarked upon a period of transformation to better reflect the business needs of the policing service it supports. Our multi-disciplined HR team delivers to a collaboration of local forces and departments with wide ranging priorities and we are imbedding an ambitious new operating model that provides strategic oversight and supports local working.
Whilst our HR Query Team provides a one stop shop for immediate queries, more complex cases are routed to the Consultancy Team who will provide HR customers with access to expert advice and guidance on a wide variety of employment matters including complex pay matters, contract variations, attendance, conduct, performance, grievances and restructuring. The teams are aligned to the business and based locally to establish effective working relationships with managers.
This particular role supports Cambridgeshire Constabulary.
Reporting to the Senior HR Consultant, the HR Consultant will work independently and manage their own portfolio of case work. They will take ownership and accountability for supporting managers in their allocated business area and will work proactively until there is a satisfactory conclusion to their cases. They will encourage managers to become self-supporting in employment matters, providing upskill and development as required. Digitally focussed, they will identify areas where improvements can be made to both guidance and processes.
You will be a Level 5 Associate member of the CIPD or have equivalent experience. With an in-depth working knowledge of employment law, you will also be a problem solver with a proven track record of applying HR policies and providing expert advice on a high level of case work including employee relations, change management and other HR matters requiring professional input. You will be a confident communicator with the ability to prepare and deliver complex HR information and advice to a range of different audiences. Customer focussed, you will always see the bigger picture, be innovative in your thinking and collaborative in your approach.
Please note that whilst the contractual base of the role is in Huntingdon, our Human Resources department supports the principles of agile working and you will be expected to work flexibly across sites in Cambridgeshire, Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire.
Further information on the role can be obtained from Nadine Yates, Senior HR Consultant (nadine.yates@beds.police.uk)
