This is a new role and an exciting time to join our team. As our Employee Relations Manager you will support the HR Advice and Support Manager to lead the Advice & Support Team to deliver professional and proactive employee relations and absence case management services to support managers in all departments across the council in leading our workforce of over 12,000 employees.
We’re looking for someone who is an excellent team player who is eager to learn, inspire, support others, share their knowledge and successfully support the continuous development of the council’s HR Advice & Support service and overarching People strategy.
The successful candidate will hold a degree or equivalent in a HR discipline and CIPD level 5 or equivalent, supported by relevant experience.
You will play a key role in:
- leading consistent proactive advisory services on employment legislative practices and employment policy and procedure working in a matrix management structure and supporting collaborative working
- leading and motivating a remote team in a customer focussed business environment ensuring teamwork is strong with performance monitoring at the heart of day to day activity
- taking a results orientated and ‘can do’ approach, playing a key role in the continuous improvement of the HR Advice and Support service.
- working closely with the HR Business Partner network, the Health Safety and Wellbeing team and Legal Services Division playing a key role in the progression of employee relations and attendance cases, ensuring the best outcomes for complex cases, appeals and employment tribunal claims
