The Team

The HR Team supports the College’s culture of high standards, an inclusive working and learning environment, and a professional committed workforce who are focussed on supporting our students to achieve the best they possibly can.

In order to enable the College to continue to evolve its contemporary focus on People and Organisational Development, in the context of a sector that is subject to continuous change, we now have an opportunity for someone experienced and innovative in recruitment and selection methodologies to join the College’s HR Team. The post holder will support the College with their workforce requirements, whilst ensuring fair and inclusive practices are adopted.

The Role

The main focus of the role will be to train and work with line mangers to deliver high quality, innovative, inclusive, cost effective and legislatively compliant recruitment and selection methods, enabling the College to attract and recruit high performing individuals committed to the values, aims and objectives of the organisation. 

The post holder will, with support from a People Resourcing Administrator, be responsible for the whole recruitment cycle, including developing, in conjunction with the HR Manager, innovative recruitment and selection practices to enable the College to attract candidates from a broad spectrum of our community.  The role will also include working closely with managers regarding their recruitment needs, advising in terms of process and best practice, ensuring fair and inclusive selection and interview processes and supporting engagement of new employees through onboarding processes such as induction and probation periods.

A critical aspect of the role will be to ensure the College’s legal requirements are met, including pre-employment checks and adherence to Keeping Children Safe in Education statutory guidance.

The post holder will also support the HR Manager/Vice Principal (HR and Student Services) with administrative matters relating to organisational and workforce development.

The Successful Candidate

The successful candidate’s knowledge, skills, experience, abilities and qualities will include:

  • Level 5 HR/Business qualification or equivalent experience with an ability and desire to continually develop their professional skills and knowledge
  • Relevant membership of the CIPD
  • Experience of workforce planning
  • Experience of dealing with recruitment and selections processes, from an HR perspective, liaising with managers across the organisation to ensure effective recruitment campaigns/selection processes that adhere to legislative frameworks. 
  • Experience of completing pre-employment checks, ensuring legal and statutory requirements are adhered to
  • Experience of providing an effective onboarding process to keep candidates and new starters engaged
  • Experience of managing and taking ownership of multiple tasks/delivering results within stringent deadlines, whilst maintaining high levels of quality and a strong customer focus
  • Proficient in the use of a diverse range of IT/ICT systems
  • Experience of working with individuals at all levels in a professional, welcoming and helpful way with the ability to be assertive and diplomatic
  • Sound analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to make timely and balanced decisions, offering practical solutions
  • Being a persuasive, confident and clear communicator, both verbally and in writing
  • Having high levels of attention to detail and accuracy
  • Being resilient, able to work well in a fast-changing pressurised environment, managing conflicting priorities effectively
  • Having a strong work ethic
  • Being flexible
  • Being team, customer and organisation focussed
  • Ability to work autonomously
