Are you an experienced HR professional? An inspiring leader?

West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service is one of the country’s top performing Fire and Rescue Services, rated good across all domains at the last HMICFRS inspection.  We are undergoing significant cultural change as we seek to make our organisation more effective, inclusive and transparent.  We now seek a talented HR leader to join our senior management team at this exciting time.

Reporting to the Chief Employment Services Officer, you will lead the Human Resources Department and be responsible for providing a range of services, including recruitment and selection, advice on conditions of employment, performance management, grievance, discipline and sickness.  You will also provide guidance on personnel policies and good employment practice and contribute to policy development.

You will be a strong and inspiring leader with a proven track record of proactively managing change and providing customer focussed HR services.  As part of a senior leadership team, you will have a very strong business partner approach and considerable experience of general management practices including cultural change, and employee relations.  Strong interpersonal skills, resilience and an organised approach are essential as the role demands a pragmatic approach in a challenging and changing environment.

The successful applicant should be CIPD qualified.  You will have a clear and in-depth understanding of current best practice in HR management together with a thorough understanding of relevant employment law.

The role requires an individual with a visible leadership style, excellent influencing skills and personal values that are aligned to those of the West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service.

We offer flexible working arrangements. Whilst you will be required to work from our offices for parts of your initial training, after this you may work both in the office and from home/remotely as part of our 'hybrid' working model.  Therefore, applicants must also have a car available for work purposes with valid business insurance and a reliable home internet connection.

The post is subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service Check.

We offer an excellent package, including Local Government Pension Scheme, free parking, 37-hour flexible working week, an employee assistance programme, training and development, sports and social clubs with free use of gym. Job share applications can be considered.

We are a caring organisation, promote an environment of inclusivity and learning and welcome people from all walks of life - just as long as you can show commitment to our values such as integrity and teamwork.

If you can meet this challenge, we want to hear from you!

Closing Date 9th December 2021 at 16:00 hours.

Interviews will take place Wednesday 23 December 2021.
