HR Case Manager (Development Scheme)

Birmingham, Durham, Manchester and Rochester

£25,118 - £26,901

Be part of a vital public service

The Ministry of Justice (MoJ) works to protect the public and reduce reoffending while delivering a more effective, transparent and responsive justice system for everyone in the UK. We offer a huge and diverse range of roles, but whatever your responsibilities, you’ll be helping to guarantee justice and the rule of law to millions of citizens, not to mention preventing crime, enforcing law and order and restoring public confidence in the justice system.

A fantastic opportunity to become a HR Case Manager

As a key trainee member of our HR Casework Service, you’ll manage a complex and challenging portfolio of HR cases where face-to-face and remote intervention is required. Your cases can involve anything from conduct and discipline to long term sickness, grievances or appeals against warnings and dismissals. As you will initially be employed on our Development Scheme you will have a dedicated mentor and tailored training programme to support you throughout the scheme. This will include training modules, shadowing and on the job training.

This will initially be a fixed term position lasting eight months. At the end of the training program you will have the opportunity to apply for a permanent HR Case Management position meaning you will be promoted to this grade if successful at interview. If you do not meet the necessary standard the fixed term contract will end.

As part of the MoJ, we deliver our service to over 40 government departments and our work makes sure that each department runs effectively and deals with internal issues fairly and responsibly.

While you manage your own caseload, you’ll also provide one-off advice and create cases for ongoing support for managers nationally via email and the Managers’ Advice Line. You’ll provide our customers with key advice and guidance, as well as coaching to improve their skills and confidence, helping build your own management skills in the process.

What you’ll need to succeed

You should be able to work with internal and external stakeholders confidently and achieve the right outcomes in the process. You must also have good IT skills and the ability to work at pace, meeting demanding deadlines while completing work to a high standard.

Desirable but not essential.

Experience of providing HR advice, an employment law background or practical line management experience where you have used relevant skills.

Benefits

Joining us, you’ll benefit from a total reward package that includes a competitive contributory pension scheme, generous annual leave allowance and staff wellbeing initiatives. We also offer paid maternity and paternity leave which is notably more than the statutory minimum offered by many other employers.
