Chief People Officer

Chief People Officer
Attractive and competitive package

The Cambridgeshire & Peterborough Integrated Care System (ICS) is a partnership between organisations that meet the health and care needs of almost a million people across Cambridgeshire and Peterborough. The ICS includes all NHS Trusts and organisations, Local Authorities and voluntary sector partners. Its role is to join up health and care services, improve people’s health and wellbeing and reduce health inequalities. By working together as one team, we are better able to improve the health and wellbeing of local communities, reduce health inequalities and put patients at the heart of everything we do.

Local people are at the heart of everything we want to achieve. We are indebted to the whole of our system’s dedicated, skilled and caring workforce, who give their absolute all, regardless of sector or organisation; but we also know that we could do more to plan career pathways, support training and development, help people to thrive within the overall employment ecology of the system and to feel comfortable to always bring their full self to work. In many ways, this transformation is one of the biggest prizes of becoming an ICS, and we are now looking for a remarkable Chief People Officer who is equal to the size of the opportunity.

You’ll bring an impressive record of organisational development, change and transformation that’s delivered major step change, and at a comparably significant scale. (As an indicator, our budget will exceed £3bn, and in our area around 1 in 8 people currently work in the health and care sector.) Personally warm, appreciative and engaging, you’ll instinctively be able to inspire colleagues to work with the grain of change, always remembering that people just want to do the very best job they can. However, your interpersonal skillset must be complemented by a rare grasp of people issues at a strategic level, and you will be completely at home in a highly-scrutinised, complex and fast-changing public service environment. Calm, positive and inspiring, you’ll collaborate with HR and OD colleagues to build capacity across the system, maximising opportunities to drive big-picture improvement through practical innovations that everyone can get on board with.

We are passionate about creating an inclusive workplace that promotes and values diversity.  We know through experience that the different ideas, perspectives and backgrounds create a stronger and more creative work environment that delivers better patient outcomes. You will be a key champion of this approach and help to ensure it’s embedded across all system partners. We welcome applications irrespective of people’s age, disability, sex, gender, identity and gender expression, race or ethnicity, religion or belief, sexual orientation or other personal circumstances.
