Yorkshire Ambulance Service is looking to recruit a Head of HR Operations who will lead the Trust’s transactional HR services covering the employee lifecycle end to end.

The Head of HR Operations will lead and manage all transactional HR services within the Trust. They will ensure that the Trust is supported by a highly capable and professional transactional Human Resources function, which provides a focussed and enabling range of HR services.

They will lead on:

  • Recruitment Services with an inclusive / values-based approach.
  • HR administration including the development and maintenance of core transactional HR processes, including temporary staffing.
  • Terms and conditions application and implementation.
  • HR governance processes including policies and procedures.
  • Job Evaluation administration process.
  • Workforce planning/information lead, supported by the ESR and BI teams.

Working for our organisation

The successful post holder will line manage the Recruitment, ESR and HR Services teams, ensuring seamless co-ordination of processes across those teams and with other Trust departments e.g payroll/finance. They will also develop and implement systems, policies and procedures to ensure the Trust is able to recruit, retain and deploy the right numbers of staff with the appropriate values and skills to support the delivery of high quality care to patients.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

To be successful, candidates must be educated to masters level (or have equivalent industry experience) and have significant experience of working at a senior level within a HR team. They will also have strong analytical and critical reasoning skills and be capable of effective problem solving. With a requirement to work collaboratively, the successful candidate will also have highly developed communication skills, including advanced report writing skills, presentations and verbal communication. Knowledge of resourcing in the NHS, whilst not essential, would be an advantage.
