Job Details

Morgan Law are delighted to now be partnering with the Pensions Ombudsman in their search for an HR Manager to join their team on a permanent basis.

When someone has tried to resolve a problem with their pension and isn’t satisfied with the outcome, that’s where the Pensions Ombudsman can step in and help.

As a totally independent body, not part of the pensions industry or government, The Pensions Ombudsman investigate and make decisions when someone has been unable to resolve a complaint about how their pension has been managed.

The Pensions Ombudsman’s work can be challenging and high-profile, delivering a fair outcome for the individual and highlighting where the pensions industry can improve. Focusing on the facts, TPO must be balanced, fair and totally independent.

As HR Manager you will play a key role as part of TPO’s wider Corporate Services team by providing the professional lead for all HR advice and support for TPO. You’ll be responsible for managing a small team in the delivery of all ‘business as usual’ services along with developing and implementing new initiatives and policies. At TPO the role of HR Manager is broad and varied, spanning everything from being very hands-on in the delivery of the HR service through to influencing senior management in the development of HR strategy in line with organisational objectives. This role will therefore ideally suit someone who is familiar the day-to-day delivery of a comprehensive HR service in a similar context.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting and advising the Executive Committee on HR policy and strategy issues
  • Ensuring the provision of a complete HR advisory service to TPO, covering employee relations, learning and development, recruitment, diversity and inclusion and HR administration
  • Overseeing the administration of TPO’s HR systems such as the HRIS, ATS, LMS and benefits platform
  • Ensuring HR policies, procedures, processes and the staff guides are updated to comply with latest legislation, sound HR practice and promote diversity and inclusion
  • Maintaining oversight of the annual performance review process for staff
  • Overseeing the monthly payroll process in conjunction with the Head of Finance
  • Overseeing the operation of staff surveys, including analysis and benchmarking
  • Managing contracts and supplier relationships for employee related services such as employee assistance and occupational health

To be considered you will require:

  • MCIPD qualification or working towards this, or equivalent experience
  • Previous experience of delivering a holistic HR service for an SME scale organisation, ideally gained in a public sector environment
  • Experience of providing sound advice across employee relations, performance management, learning and development, recruitment and diversity and inclusion to a professional client management group
  • Experience of supporting a senior management team in the development and implementation of a broad-based HR strategy
  • Experience of overseeing the administration and effective use of a range of HR systems, including operation of self-service systems, applicant tracking systems and other online platforms, ensuring compliance with data protection principles
  • Knowledge of project management methodologies to ensure successful delivery of critical cross-functional initiatives
  • Experience of effectively using data sources for providing management information and insight to stakeholders
  • Previous experience of managing external suppliers for the delivery of HR services

An immediate start is available and interviews will be held on a rolling basis, so please apply ASAP if you would like to be considered. Applicants are required to submit an updated CV and a brief covering letter demonstrating how you meet the criteria required. To discuss and for further details please contact Morgan Law.

All direct and third party applications will be forwarded to Morgan Law.

Please note, applicants must have a right to work in the UK and be prepared to be security cleared to Baseline Personnel Security Standard, which requires a basic disclosure from the Disclosure and Barring Service.
