The team provide the HR service for around 1600 employees across Scotland, which includes all aspects of the employee lifecycle from recruitment to retirement, organisational performance, change and improvement and much more.

The HR Operations team is an integral part of the People Team and we work closely with the other functions such as: Resourcing & Talent, Learning & Development, Health, Safety and Wellbeing, Payroll, Equality, Diversity and Inclusion, HR Systems and MI, HR Policy and the Change team.

As an Executive Agency of Scottish Government (SG), we also work closely with SG colleagues in HR, Resourcing and Security too.

Job description

Our HR Advisors (HRA) provide great customer service through working in partnership with designated business functions located across Scotland for both Forestry and Land Scotland (FLS) and Scottish Forestry (SF) on all people management matters.

You’ll provide HR operational service to the North and East regions of Scotland, Central and West regions or South region depending on which role you apply for, as well as other departments and functions. These roles play a key part in supporting the business areas you serve and as such, you will need some flexibility to travel to the areas you serve. This may be up to two to three times per month (some overnight stays will be needed) once we are able to return to working in an office environment. Given the frequency of travel and geographical spread of the role, for the North and

East regions of Scotland, you will ideally be located at our Head office in Inverness, however, we could consider some flexibility on this.

Working in a fast paced environment, you’ll have specific responsibility for providing professional generalist people management advice, coaching and support to all staff up to the Chief Executive, including provision of guidance on employee lifecycle and case management for example, discipline, grievance, performance and attendance. You will also support in areas such as recruitment, workforce planning, job evaluation and a range of organisational change projects. All this work contributes towards embedding our People Strategy across FLS.

Your engagement with the business is an essential part of the role and you’ll have regular meetings with various stakeholders. To help with this, you’ll work alongside the HR Business Partner (HRBP) for your Regions to produce and present statistical reports that analyse several workforce metrics.

You will also work collaboratively with the other functions within the People Team.

Working in partnership with two other HRAs, you will be the first point of contact for our HR Assistants, who have a key role in supporting employee lifecycle activities.

You will undertake HR administrative work and coordination of this as required to ensure the efficient delivery of HR activities when needed.
